TRIBUTE TO VICKY ANDREWS
Vicky was born in march 1946, post war baby boom as it is called. she was the eldest of minnie and george blackborough's family and was later joined by brothers Geordie, John, Harry, Alan and Geoff, together with her sisters Nan, Rosie, Emily and Jane.
She went to Welbeck Road and Wharrier Street Schools.
Married in her ealy 20s to John who was in the army, they had their family of John, Michael an Mandy. When the boys were just small, the family lived in Gibraltar for a while John who was stationed there. Back home again Mandy came along. John and Vicky were later to go their separate ways.
Vicky worked for some time in what could be called the Blackborough family business, working on the buses. She was a conductress for a while, whilst her mother minnie worked in the canteen.
Vicky herself was'nt that much of a cook, although she did make a lovely lot of broth and everybody had to come around and have some. Her father liked to turn his hand to the odd bit of cooking with his big egg and juice in a sunday morning, another meal that all the family seemed to join in.
Vicky would like a game of bingo especially at scarborough and she also enjoyed cream cakes and the luxury of a cream tea was one of her highlights when on hoilday. Im told her grand daughters also share her love of cream cakes.
Vicky was happy to help the jazz band and karate club were many of nephews and nieses went, it was alot if fun, with the social and fundraising events, binbo, pie and peas suppers and so on.
Vicky also worked as a senior care assistant but tended to get promoted and then demoted again, but she was good at her job, but just alittle outspoken at times andlet everyone know her views.
In the eary days she danced at the oxford as a go go dancer, when beehive hair was in. she would always get dressed up complete with her big ear rings.
She used to have trouble with her chest so im told, that her teeth were taking out and tucked away in her bra.
Vickys grandkids became a greater part of her life, but im told carla is the one that takes after her the most. her grand daughters called her the old boot.
Vicky sent her son in law colin to the shop every day and she would give a treat every time, cigs, sweets, and even bacon.
Vicky loved her dvds, crime or catherine cookson or watchen big brother or im a celebrity.
love you alway mam xxx

No words to help us comprehend
no thoughts to ease our pain
no simple way to say goodbye
and go on with life again
Nothing can begin to fill
the emptiness inside
or take away the heartache
and make the pain subside
Yet time will bring it's healing touch
and slowly make a start
to show that tears are natures way
to heal a broken heart
Then memories of happy times
the thoughts you had to share
will show their love lives on with you
though they're no longer there
SLEEP TIGHT SWEET ANGEL
